Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been officially ruled out of the World Cup, confirmed by the ICC on Saturday (November 4). His position in the Indian squad will now be filled by pacer Prasidh Krishna.
Pandya sustained a left ankle injury while bowling in the match against Bangladesh in Pune last month. Despite undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, it has been established that he will be unable to participate further in the ongoing tournament.
The ICC Technical Committee has approved Prasidh Krishna as Pandya’s replacement. Having played 17 ODIs, Krishna holds a record of 29 ODI wickets at an average of 25.58. He will serve as the fifth pace bowling option in the squad, joining Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, and Shardul Thakur.
